Braun

2024
An eight-week design internship at Braun Design Studio, Kronberg.
- Product design
- Visual communication
- Digital modelling
- Prototyping
- Figma
- Rhino 3D
During my time at Braun Design Studio, I worked across product and communication design, including the design and development of the BraunPrize 2024 trophy. I developed the project from initial ideas and design explorations through digital modelling, prototyping and refinement, considering both its visual qualities and the requirements of production.
Alongside the trophy, I gained practical experience in packaging, typography and iconography. Working independently across several projects and in close exchange with experienced designers, I used Figma and Rhino 3D to explore, visualise and present ideas. Feedback and iteration shaped the work throughout, deepening my understanding of how function, form and visual communication come together within a consistent design language.
Exploring Braun’s heritage
During my time at Braun Design Studio, I explored the brand’s design heritage through archival material and the work of Dieter Rams, focusing on proportion, clarity and the relationship between form and function.

Process
Research, material exploration and a series of physical prototypes shaped the trophy’s development. Working in Braun’s on-site workshop, I tested ideas through making and explored how material choices and production methods could inform the design.
These studies, together with feedback from the design team, led to a refined form that could be manufactured primarily through CNC milling. The process brought the visual and practical requirements of the trophy into close dialogue.
